Years of Work Experience Outside SCC: Seven years as a high school Agriculture Education instructor and FFA advisor in Kansas. Four years within the agriculture industry.
Describe your teaching philosophy.
As an educator, I strive to provide Agriculture students with high levels of educational opportunities so they can obtain their career goals. I want students to develop a passion and appreciation for agriculture and become future leaders within the agriculture industry.
Why did you decide to teach at a community college?
As a former student and graduate of the Agriculture program, I have always appreciated the educational opportunities that I learned here at SCC. I had always hoped to have the opportunity to come back and teach in this program. As an educator, I hope to carry on the goals, values and focus of the program for future students enrolled in Agriculture.
What can prospective students expect when they enroll in your program?
Students can expect to receive a high quality education within Agriculture. They will gain experience through hands-on learning and develop the necessary skills for a career within the agriculture field.
What experiences outside of SCC do you bring to the classroom/laboratory that enhance student learning?
A variety of jobs within the agriculture industry. I also taught high school agriculture education before joining SCC. Agriculture is always changing, and I hope to learn and progress as an instructor, as well as influence leadership qualities upon our students.
What advice do you have for students pursuing a degree in your program?
Think outside the box and strive to be the best you can and make the most of your educational opportunities!
What do you enjoy most about working with students?
Learning who they are, their background experience and future goals.
What is the best part about being an SCC faculty member?
Working with the students and the camaraderie of the Agriculture staff.
What has been your proudest moment as an instructor?
Seeing students be excited and proud of applying new concepts they have learned.
What do you like to do when you’re not teaching?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy bow hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and attending KSU football games.

I am a former graduate of the program.
