Describe your teaching philosophy.
I like to bring real-world examples into my classes. I also believe that every person should be treated equally.
Why did you decide to teach at a community college?
I was asked to do adjunct work at night to help the program and found that I enjoyed teaching.
What can prospective students expect when they enroll in your program?
They can expect to learn many different software programs that they will use to complete projects ranging from architectural to manufacturing.
What experiences outside of SCC do you bring to the classroom/laboratory that enhance student learning?
I have worked in construction, manufacturing and automotive fields which allows me to apply real-world situations to my teaching.
What advice do you have for students pursuing a degree in your program?
That your education here is your first job in industry, and now is the time to apply good work ethics.
What do you enjoy most about working with students?
When a student finally gets a concept and they have that “aha” moment.
What is the best part about being an SCC faculty member?
I enjoy meeting new students, seeing them progress through the program and when they get jobs.
What has been your proudest moment as an instructor?
I had a student who wanted to quit because they weren’t understanding what was going on, and one day it finally clicked, and they went on to graduate and get a great job.
What do you like to do when you’re not teaching?
I like to restore old cars, fish and do yard work.
What would students be surprised to know about you?
I had to have open-heart surgery a few years ago for a bicuspid heart valve.
